American Mahjing Scoring

The scoring is calculated based upon two different ways of declaring Mahjing:

  1. By someone's discard:

    1. The winner receives double of the points scored from the discarder and points scored from each of the other players.
    2. For example: If a player win's by someone discard with the total of 30 points, the winning player will receive 2 x 30 = 60 points from the discarder and 30 points each from all other players for a grand total of 120 points.
    3. When a winning player has no Jokers (this can be achieved by exchanging Jokers from an exposure), the discarder pays four times the value of the hand and all other players pays double the value of the hand. The exception is on the singles and pairs group of winning hand.

  2. By self-drawn:

    1. The winner receives double of the points scored from each player.
    2. For example: If a player win's by self-drawn with a total of 30 points, he or she will receive 60 + 60 + 60 = 180 points.
    3. When a winning player has no Jokers (this can be achieved by exchanging Jokers from an exposure), all players pays four times the value of the hand. The exception is on the singles and pairs group of winning hand.

As you can see, there is a tremendous advantage to finishing a hand self-drawn!

The one who declares Mahjing is the only one gets to score points. The points are based on the contents of the winning hand.

Warning! Be careful when announcing a wrong Mahjing and revealing your hand! It will automatically disqualify you from continue playing, and you will pay the winner the same as other players. Moreover, if two other players also reveal their hands so only one hand remains, you will pay double of the value of your claim hands and others won't have to pay.
